The Great Dying

In the Old Testament of christens, actually in the Torah of Jews, there are two incidents of mass killing of all living things by Yahweh. Of course, it was a selective killing; saving some of the species. One was limited to two cities; Sodom and Gomorrah. Fire and Sulfur was used for this mass killing. Yahweh’s man Loat and his family was the only people saved from this devastating wrath of Yahweh.
Centuries before this incident, another massive killing was done. That time it covered all over the world and the cause was an unprecedented flood. The Bible explains that “All the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened, and the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights”. Furthermore, “All the high hills under the whole heaven were covered”. This time Yahweh was little bit magnanimous. Noah, the true disciple of Yahweh was advised to make a big Ark; big enough to house representatives of all the species in the world, one male and one female.
Creationist scientists believe that the mass extinction of Dinosaurs occurred during this flood, owing the fact that the evidence received from most of the fossils of Dinosaurs was a kind of graveyards as having been caused by a flood. Then the question arises is what is the reason for not keeping a pair of Dinosaurs in the Noah’s Ark?  Questions arise, however, as to how pairs of huge dinosaurs, some growing to lengths of over 120 feet, weighing more than 110 tons, could have been housed on the ark. But please remember, as per Genesis, the ark was a huge vessel—300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide and 30 cubits high. The word “cubit” comes from a Hebrew word meaning “forearm,” because the Hebrews used their forearm in determining the length of a cubit. Generally, a cubit was the distance from the elbow to the tip of the middle finger. According to our own measurements, a cubit would be about 18-20 inches. Thus, the ark was approximately 450 feet long (one-and-a-half football fields!), 75 feet wide and 45 feet tall, roughly of 1.5 million cubic feet volume. If there was a will from Noah’s side there was a way to preserve poor Dinosaurs.
But, Geological evidence did not match with Creationist Scientist’s claim. As per available scientific evidence, the extinction phenomenon took place about 65 million years ago; very hard to believe that Noah lived before 65 million years ago. Leaving behind Noah’s Ark and flood, it is true that this sensational incident killed more than half of all the life on the Earth, wiped out the entire family of Dinosaurs. The phenomenon triggered mass extinctions on the lands and in the oceans so profound that they define the geological boundary between the older Mesozoic Era, often called the ‘Age of Reptiles,’ and the modern Cenozoic Era, the ‘Age of Mammals’....
This mass extinction is usually referred to as the K-T extinctions” (Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary).
A host of theories attempt to explain this mass extinction of dinosaurs. It is said that there have been over 80 theories suggested to explain the demise of the dinosaurs. These include plague, constipation, mammals eating their eggs, racial senility, a nearby explosion of a supernova, and being hunted by aliens etc.
The most popularly held evolutionary view of this mass extinction is about an asteroid hit.    It suggested that a huge, six-mile-wide asteroid, moving at more than 22,000 miles an hour crashed into the Earth and caused catastrophic, global devastation. When it hit the ground, its kinetic energy would be converted to heat in a non-nuclear explosion 10,000 times as strong as the total world arsenal of nuclear weapons. Such an explosion would send enormous amounts of dust and water vapor into the atmosphere. This atmospheric contamination would result in virtually total darkness for months, and food chains everywhere would collapse. The darkness would also produce extremely cold temperatures; a condition termed ‘impact winter’. After this “impact winter,” There was a greenhouses gases such as carbon dioxide caused a subsequent period of extreme heat that would have killed many of the species  that lived through the extreme cold. Add to that the heavy acid rain possibly caused by the impact.
But, how most of the mammalian species (our ancestors) safely crossed the K–T boundary?
Was it a selective mass killing, killing all the giant reptiles’ species and allowing our ancestors to bloom?
It is postulated that those mammalian species were generally small, comparable in size to rats; this small size would have helped them to find shelter in protected environments. In addition, some of them were semi-aquatic or burrowing. Any burrowing or semi-aquatic mammal would have had additional protection from K–T boundary environmental stresses.
Finally, the paleontological evidence shows that this kind of mass destruction is a cyclic process, repeating in a specific time interval.  In the last 500 million years of history of the earth, there was at least five such major mass extinctions were identified. They are 450 Million years ago, 360 million years ago, 250 million years ago, 200 million years ago and 65 million years ago.
When is the next?
